Yesterday has been a great deal of time with a key source of the NHL who informed me that we could be hearing sooner than later that the Québec Nordiques we'll be back in the NHL within the next few years.
My Source was very certain in regards to the fact the NHL will indeed return to Québec...."always been a matter of how and when he said, not if," he emphasized. Recently, Some have talked about the possibility of a team re-locating to Québec. However, with what looks like positive signs coming out of Seattle, it sounds like expansion in Québec....with Seattle possibly getting a team which may need to relocate in the coming years.
Also, some of my contacts, who are on the NHL board of governors, are saying they believe they will hear about Québec prior to the Las Vegas expansion draft... And they feel the league knows this timing is important in order to work through long-range plans.
The NHL of course is silent, as is their custom, whenever expansion is discussed..
Trouba Update...
As I reported a few weeks ago, it almost feels like a certainty now Trouba will be signing some sort of deal with the Winnipeg Jets, and not be traded... Not right away at least... That is not say that is impossible a team steps up, but from all indications the Jets are spending more time trying to get him back on the team and less time trying to move him.
You'll discuss all this and more on today's HockeyBuzzCast at 1 PM Eastern daylight savings time... (Gotta love the extra hour sleep)
