The red hot Blue Jackets are taking on the Islanders tonight with hopes of winning their 42nd game of the year, and ending the season on a positive note.
Despite missing over 500-man games this season, the Blue Jackets will finish at least .500 (not NHL .500, real .500) regardless of tonight's outcome, though they'd finish over .500 with a win. That would be an incredible accomplishment.
A couple months ago this would have seemed impossible, but the Jackets have won consistently against even the best of teams, and are near the top the NHL standings since mid February as a result.

It's crazy to think that if the Jackets had have made it to OT in a few more of their losses they could still make the playoffs, because their win total lines up with most of the teams in/fighting for wild card spots.
If not anything else, this run has provided some entertainment and hope in an otherwise disappointing year, and that's all anyone can ask for given what the team has dealt with.
