As I said yesterday, I didn't get to see this one as I am out south of the border traveling this weekend, but from the limited highlights (putting it mildly) and the comments after the game it was probably saving myself a couple of hours of time.
It looked par for the course - fall behind early, play catchup, give up a milestone goal of some sort (Sam Reinhart's 20th) and then live or die by a bounce or two , put a controversial one behind
It didn't look like Craig Anderson was in the same zip code as his crease on a couple of goals, but he also looked hung out to dry, while Alex Chiasson actually showed some hands in scoring his 6th of the season.
It also took an apparent nasty turn with a high shot that may or may not have actually made contact? From the Buffalo standpoint (well one Buffalo News article I saw) it might has well have been attempted murder and supplemental discipline is an option while posts on this site said he hit him on the arm. I finally found it on google and it might have been grazed the head of Reinhart but I don't think it satisfies enough of the criteria (unsuspecting/blindside, primary point of contact, altering line of fire) to warrant anything further.
It never ceases to amaze how two different perspectives can see the same play and have two such differing opinions on what actually happened.
So I am guessing it will be Andrew Hammond going tonight at home against the Habs, in a game that is for position in the standings. A Habs win would put them past Ottawa by tiebreaker which would mean more for draft ranking than any shot at a playoff spot. The gap between both clubs and that lofty goal has grown to the size of the grand canyon. And I mean the widest part, not the part that Evel Knievel would try to jump over on a motorcycle.
I will try to see this one (hotel wi-fi permitting) but am not counting on it.
