Notes:
1) Keith Kinkaid will get the nod against Montreal for the third time this season. He's been quite good this year - as evident by his .918SV% - but he hasn't fared too well against the Habs. In two prior starts Kinkaid is 0-2-0 with an .870SV%. The third time's the charm, they say.
2) Jon Merrill has had a negative impact on most Devils' possession numbers, so naturally when Damon Severson returned to the lineup that was his partner. The duo actually played pretty well, but the Devils have decided they went to tie more of anchor to Damon Severson by playing him alongside Mark Fraser. It's a good test for him, I suppose.
3) Reid Boucher will be back in the lineup tonight after watching a pair of games from the seats. Hopefully he's given a legitimate chance to make something happen (i.e. not 10-12 minutes) because goal scorers often are high volume shooters, and it's hard to generate shots/chances while seeing limited ice.
4) The Devils will need to pay close attention to Max Pacioretty. He's closing in on 40 goals, and you can bet he wants to reach that plateau. New Jersey's defense will have to keep their feet moving, because if they get caught flat footed he'll blow right past them.
