G33 Calgary Flames @ Detroit Red Wings: The Streak Is Over (Flames)

The Calgary Flames' winning streak is finally over.

After picking up seven consecutive wins, and beating the likes of the Stars (x2), the Predators and Rangers, among others, in the process the Flames' fell at the hands of the St. Louis Blues on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues scored the game's first three goals and that proved too much for the Flames to overcome despite their best efforts (they outshot St. Louis 30-15 in the final two periods).

The Flames won't have any time to dwell over the loss as they're set to get right back at it tonight in Detroit.

It will take everything the Flames have in them to begin a new winning streak tonight as they're a) in a back-to-back playing a rested team and; b) the Red Wings have recorded at least a point in 14 of their last 15 games.

NOTES 1) The first goal in this game is very important for the Flames. It's always hard to come from behind; especially against a good team while playing on the road in the latter half of a back-to-back.

2) After a bit of a hot streak Sam Bennett has gone ice cold. He has just one point (an assist) in his last 10 games and has been held without a shot in two straight. He's only 19 and he will go through some growing pains but the Flames need more from him.

3) The Nyquist - Sheahan - Tatar unit isn't putting up scary numbers just yet but they're generating 56.6% of the shot attempts at 5 v 5 and 62%(!) of the scoring chances. They've been excellent as a trio and will surely give the Flames a handful in this one.

The game is at 7:00 eastern and can be seen on SN and FS-Detroit.
