On Cody Franson...
I am told the Boston Bruins and Franson are close, but the Bruins are trying to make a minor deal to free some space first. They are talking to the Carolina Hurricanes and Arizona Coyotes.
On Expansion...
There is a lot of talk today that Las Vegas and Quebec City are leading the expansion race by a wide margin. The problem is Quebec would have to be in the Eastern Conference and in a division with Montreal and Toronto. The NHL needs to go to 16 teams in each Conference and from what I am told moving Detroit back to the West is not an option.
There have been some who have speculated that a team in the East could relocate to Seattle, but I am hearing the possibility is fading. Carolina may be the odd man out this time. The natural college rivals Carolina has with Nashville and Texas could help the 'Canes gain some natural rivals. The other option out there is the NHL could possibly move to three conferences but that solution doesn't have much support among some of the top teams.
What do you think the NHL should do?
