Fixing The Trade Market Pt 1-Eliminating NTC In Final Year (nhl rumors)

So there has been a ton of talk lately regarding how to fix the trade market in the NHL...before there isn't a trade market anymore...

This year has seen a remarkable lack of movement for various reasons including the salary cap, parity, restrictive contracts, wimpy General Managers, etc...

I have been talking to people throughout the NHL, from player agents, to GMs, to NHL execs about this problem. The NHL, and the fans of course, love player movement and to see it fade away is not a good thing for anyone...I have compiled a list of concepts proposed by the people most involved and will be releasing them on these blogs to get your opinion...Hockeybuzz has been read by well over 30 million unique readers, so we have the ear of the league. Tell them what you think of the concepts, and of course feel free to add your own...Many, if not all, of these changes would have to be implemented into the CBA of course.

Concept #1:

Ending, or somehow limiting, "No Trade Clauses" in the final year of a contract. This would go a loooong way towards fixing the issue. Perhaps it is something like a player can give ten teams in his final year....but when a player isn't for sure returning teams should be allowed to utilize the asset.

What do you think?

We will discuss all this and more on today's Buzzcast live at 1pm
