The team announced yesterday that Evgeni Malkin was going to be evaluated today. Well they got the results back and it wasn't good.

Pittsburgh is in a dog fight to remain in one of the Eastern Conference Wild Card spots and this isn't making that fight any easier.
This injury isn't one that the Penguins can work around. They are losing one of the best players on the planet.
Considering the amount of time Malkin is going to miss one has to wonder why he was let back into the game in the first place.
Malkin left the game after that hit and returned to game action to earn an assist and then left for good.
Recently Carl Hagelin was let back into game action and then had to miss time. Beau Bennett was visibly suffering after dishing out a hit against Vancouver, returned to game , then missed an extended period of time (he's still out).
Seems to happen more often than it should.
If Pittsburgh misses the playoffs they will retain their first round pick in the draft and Toronto will have to wait another year. At least Jim Rutherford got that pick lottery protected.
