The Isles limp back from their California trip to host the Calgary Flames in Brooklyn tonight at 7PM. The Isles finished the trip 1-2 and had the chance to grab points in every game despite being out played badly in seven of those nine periods. It looked painfully obvious at times as to how bad this team was outplayed and outclassed. Honestly, it looks like Noel losing by a dozen goals to his son in NHL17 bad.
So what do we change? Well according to the Islanders staff, absolutely NOTHING. How do you write about a team when the narrative doesn’t change? It’s the same story every night, Chip. Chase. Lose corner battles. Chase and repeat. They cannot carry the puck, they consistently chase the game and there is just a clear lack of talent on this roster. This group also looks like a team that played like it wanted a new coach and then when they didn’t get a new coach, this is the end result. Just a bunch of slop.
I’m tired of writing the same story. I’m tired of using the same template. This organization is saying and doing nothing and it comes off loud and clear. The only thing I can tell you is to not buy this crap. That’s all you can do as consumers. Stay home. Refuse to spend your money until there is a change. Perhaps that will help.
As for the actual game tonight, Thomas Greiss will be between the pipes and the lineup will be the same. That means that Ryan Strome will be a healthy scratch for his second straight game. I don’t know what the answers are but I do know that this present plan is an unmitigated disaster.
