The Coyotes take on the Canucks at home tonight after losing to them in overtime last week.
The team hasn't played since they sent Dylan Strome back to junior on Sunday. I don't really have a problem with the move as he wasn't playing, and no one needs another lecture on the dumb rules that prevent him from playing in the AHL. It sucks in the sense that it's more fun to watch a last place team if they're playing their top prospects, but I'll get over it.
On the plus side, the injury to Brad Richardson - out for a long time with a broken leg - will open up more icetime for Christian Dvorak, although he hasn't exactly set the world on fire and we might see a situation where Jordan Martinook is the #2 centre, in terms of ice-time. For the record, I do not mean to say it's a good thing he got injured. Just that we'll get to see more of an age appropriate player for this team.
One thing to keep in mind though, is that while the Coyotes are last in the NHL, they've also played the least games. The World Cup induced schedule will now force them to play nearly every other day for the next month or two. Fun stuff if the team can make itself into something worth watching.
If not, it will still be pretty fun because every time you have nothing to do but watch hockey is a pretty good time in my books.
Anyways, hopefully tonight is fun, there's like 12 games or something and I think I'll pick up a very cheap bottle of wine on the way home from work.
