Follow @james_tanner123 Thankfully, the Coyotes only have two games left this season. As much as this sets us up for the future, it's still been tough to watch.
Tougher still is listening to all the condescending duds complaining about fans who cheer against their own team. Yes, fans ought to be mindless consumers and screw them if they are smart enough to think long-term.
People are pathetic.
But I digress. Tonight's game is saved from being the NHL equivalent of the Atari version of E.T by the fact that there is actually a reason to watch it.
The Flames sit in a tie with the Kings, but have third in the division due to the tie-breaker. Three games left and the loser get's to go home early. Although, technically at least, the Wild, Jets or Canucks could all miss the Playoffs as well, but I think at this point the most likely scenario is that one of the Flames or Kings will be on the outside looking in.
It's hard to cheer against the Flames, if they lose, will you regret handing them a heart worth breaking? I know I won't.
Enter the Coyotes. They would need to lose all three games and watch Buffalo win their final three (one down, so far) if they were to win the McDavid/Eichel Championship. That is unlikely, as is the scenario where the Coyotes catch the Oilers.
There are 11 days left until we find out who actually gets to draft McDavid. I can't wait.
What else?
Well nothing really. Unless you're interested in the injury status of Laurie Korpiskoski. What's that? You aren't? Me neither.
Tell you one thing, I hate being in a situation to cheer against the Flames, but the fact is, the Kings should be in the Playoffs. Nothing to do with them deserving it, or being a better team or whatever, the NHL Playoffs deserve to have the defending Champion play in them.
I watched last night's Kings game, and man, they are the unluckiest team I've ever seen. 15 O.T losses this year. Make eight of those wins and they are tied with Chicago. They get a 40 save performance out of their goalie and it's matched by the back-up goalie of the team they're chasing. To lose the Playoffs in a shootout is a bad joke. Like a pun on that song "All about the Base" or a 50 Shades of Grey Joke or a tanking pun, the Kings luck has been horrible.
Anyways, on to the Flames. Should be a good game.
