The Columbus Blue Jackets have chosen their next captain.
They just haven't announced who that will be...yet.
Blue Jackets President John Davidson confirmed that the Blue Jackets have chosen the team's 6th captain in franchise history, but isn't ready to spill the beans as to who they chose.
Via the Columbus Business Journal: "We know who it’s going to be. We’ll name a captain by the start of next season and that’s a step forward. He’s popped, he’s a person that’s carried himself with outstanding leadership."
There are a lot of good candidates, which is something I touched on recently, but easy money would be on Nick Foligno or Brandon Dubinsky.
They're both good players, they're both signed for the long haul, and they're both loved by their teammates as well as the fan base as a whole.
I think the next captain will be one of those two, but we'll find out in due time.
