Washington Capitals GM Brian MacClellan announced this morning that they have recalled winger Stanislav Galiev from the Hershey Bears.
Galiev has recorded 45 points in 64 games this season in Hershey (25g, 20a). He was a 3rd round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.
With this move, the Capitals will most likely be scratching Tom Wilson who was injured in Sundays game against the Red Wings. Wilson blocked a shot with his head and did not return for the rest of the third period.
Wilson tweeted on Monday that was 'OK', but the Caps may not want to take any chances going into the playoffs.
Eric Fehr, who was a healthy scratch in Sundays game, will likely be out as well for Wednesdays game against the Bruins. Andre Burakovsky will probably remain with the team.
The Caps have already clinched a playoff spot, but are now fighting for home ice advantage with two games remaining. The Islanders and Penguins have three each and could potentially push the Caps back down in the standings.
The Caps and Bruins face off tomorrow at 8pm in DC.
