From Monumental Sports: "The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Nate Schmidt from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today."
What could this mean?
Could be the end of Tim Gleason, at least for this round if the Caps can advance on Wednesday.
Gleason has shown a lot of toughness and grit, which is exactly why the Caps got him in the first place, however his speed has been an issue this post season, especially against the Rangers.
Schmidt, if he plays, will add that quickness the Caps have been lacking and his work with Mike Green this season has been pretty solid.
However, his inexperience could be an issue, but we don't anything until he actually plays some minutes.
