The Washington Capitals and Hershey Bears announced today that the two clubs have extended their affiliation agreement through the 2015-16 season. The Bears have been the Capitals AHL affiliate for the past 10 seasons, winning back-to-back Calder Cup Trophies in 2009 and 2010. In 2006, in their first year of affiliation with Washington, the Bears claimed another Championship and reached the finals in 2007.
The two teams were linked from 1977 until 1984 and saw the Bears win the title in 1980.
This past season saw 22 current and former Hershey Bears players take the ice for the Capitals.
