The season of change continued for the Montreal Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin as he he signed gritty unrestricted forward Bobby Farnham to a one year two way contract on Friday afternoon.

Farnham had a career year last season with the New Jersey Devils as he recorded 8 goals and 2 assists in 50 games. However, his shot percentage of 16.7% is likely unsustainable and he will not be counted on for offence...
Farnham essentially replaces Mike Brown in terms of a fourth line physical agitator. He fits right in with the Canadiens at 5’10… and has speed. Farnham plays with an edge and got into trouble with a violent hit on Dmitrij Jaskin of the St. Louis Blues, resulting in a four game suspension. He was also fined for embellishment.
With this recent signing, Bergevin is further putting his stamp on the Canadiens. Softness will no longer be tolerated on the ice. The new additions of Shea Weber, Andrew Shaw, Alexander Radulov and now Farnham should make the Canadiens tougher to play against and will hopefully hold their teammates to be more accountable.
