Canada's Revenge; Currently 5 of 7 teams in Playoffs (Hockey Podcast)

So remember last year when the fine folks at Sportsnet and CBC took a major hit when for the first time in nearly 50 years no Canadian teams qualified for the playoffs? It really hurt Sportsnet the most after finally wrestling the NHL Rights away from TSN..

Well don't look now, but as of today, no less than 5 of the 7 Canadian teams are sitting in playoff spots and the two that aren't are still very much in it. Toronto is 2 points behind Philly for the final Wildcard but have played one less game, and Winnipeg is just a single point out in the West.

And all these teams are doing things the right way. With talented young players leading the way and causing me to believe Canada is back in the playoffs and back to stay.

Also, remember last year when Montreal got off to its best first 10 games in their incredibly successful history? Well these Canadiens just topped that. Last year they received 18 points in their first 10 games, this year...19 points in their first 10 games... and it isn't JUST the return of Carey Price either...who missed a bunch of games to start the year off. It's young players who are finding ways to contribute.

The Habs top players can still play better believe it or not.

And THAT should scare everyone.
