The Calgary Flames have signed winger Troy Brouwer to a four-year deal worth $4.5 million per season.
Brouwer definitely fits the description of the power forward the Flames have been after. He's 6'3 and has averaged 21 goals and 41 points over the last three seasons. His underlying numbers haven't been great but if you give him minutes with good players the counting totals will be there.
Power forwards don't tend to age well but the length isn't too ridiculous here. I would have stayed away from Brouwer, however, I'm not at all surprised the Flames elected to walk down this path.
I'll have more on this in the coming days.

The Flames have also shored up their goaltending depth by signing Chad Johnson to a one-year deal.
He's not the sexiest name on the market but he has a .917 save percentage in 101 NHL appearances and posted a .920SV% in 45 games last season with the Buffalo Sabres.
When Brian Elliott needs a rest Johnson is a more than capable alternative.
This is a nice bit of business by Brad Treliving and co.
