Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving left no stone unturned in his search for a No. 1 goaltender.
From Ben Bishop to Marc-Andre Fleury to Frederik Andersen to Brian Elliott, among others, Treliving and the Flames were seemingly linked to every goaltender on the market.
When all was said and done Treliving settled, if you will, on Elliott by making a draft day trade for the 31-year-old netminder.
While Elliott is not the big name goaltender some were hoping for, his performance in recent years stacks up with the best of the best.

As you can see Elliott ranks 3rd among that group in save percentage and 2nd in quality start%.
It's worth noting Elliott's sample size is the smallest of the bunch but 108 starts is nothing to brush aside. Playing behind a very good St. Louis Blues team surely helped his cause, too, but he still had to go out there and stop pucks and he was extremely good at it.
The numbers might dip a bit in Calgary but there's definitely reason to believe he'll be able to translate his success with the Flames.
Fans and management should be able to rest easy because, with Elliott in place as a starter, the Flames' goaltending woes appear to be a thing of the past.
