Just a few days after being acquired by the Calgary Flames defenseman Dougie Hamilton has put pen to paper on a six-year contract extension.
Hamilton will earn an average of $5.75 million per season according to TSN's Darren Dreger.
Hamilton extension is 6 yrs and close to $34.5 mil total. Flames pushed for 8 yrs and Hamilton wanted 5. Good compromise.

Not only did he produce points but he also did very well in terms of possession owning a +4.7 Corsi For percentage relative to the team when he wasn't on the ice.
I took a more in-depth look at Hamilton and what he can bring to the Flames yesterday but by all accounts he's already playing at the level of a top-pairing defenseman.
Since entering the league Hamilton has been one of the league's best at generating shot attempts, suppressing them and producing points.
Given Hamilton just turned 22 and is playing the NHL's hardest position that is extremely impressive.
He's still getting better, too, and I don't have any doubt in my mind that he'll be in the conversation for a Norris Trophy in the not to distant future.
The Flames now have one of the best blue liners in hockey signed through his prime at a very team friendly price.
