Bylsma: Kane MCL Out 4-6 Weeks (sabres)

The Buffalo Sabres will be without the services of their power forward Evander Kane who suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in his left leg on Saturday night.

Bylsma said that Kane's injury will not require surgery.

Devils D David Schlemko made knee on knee contact with Kane while checking him into the Zamboni door glass. Kane writhed in pain and crumpled to the ice immediately following the collision.

Kane was injured midway through the third period as the Sabres were looking for a goal while trailing in the game 4-2.

Kane tweeted after the game that he would be back "ASAP".

Sabres head coach Dan Bylsma said after today's practice that Kane will be lost for the next four to six weeks while he recoups from the injury.

Who will score the goals for Buffalo's dormant office bow that Kane is injured?

Kane was arguably Buffalo's best forward in his team's first eight games. He has one goal and one assist. He has vibed very well with super rookie Jack Eichel.

The Sabres are banking on Kane scoring 30 goals and chipping in 30 plus assists this season.

Sam Reinhart skated at left wing for Eichel and Johan Larsson at Monday's practice.

The Sabres are getting crushed by inuries to starting goalie Robin Lehner (high ankle sprain), top pair D Zach Bogosian (abdomal), and best all around player Kane (MCL).

Sabres GM Tim Murray has two glaring needs now:

1. A scoring power forward to replace Kane. 2. An upgrade in starting goaltending.

Murray has $9.5 million in salary cap space to work with.

The Sabres called up Tim Schaller from Rochester to replace Kane on the roster.

The Sabres play in Philly on Tuesday night.
