The situation didn't started out being about the money but apparently has become about the money, I guess shouldn't come as a surprise to any of us really. Especially when Buffalo and Toronto are involved... It's going to eventually be about the money.
There's a very different situation here for Mike Babcock if the Maple Leafs are indeed involved in these late negotiations...which I believe they are as reported by Darren Dreger. It shows it has become more about the money or at least how much money do I need to justify moving my family and leaving a situation I love?
Detroit won't be matching any offers here I am told. They have their limit as well as a solid option for the next coach in Grand Rapids.
The Maple Leafs don't have a Gm yet, so they could be handing Mike Babcock more than money.. That is a factor I am told.
Buffalo's first offer was 5 million per, but Pegula can do better than that if he really wants him. And all I talk to say he really wants him.
I keep coming back to the initial words of Mike Babcock. "I want to do what is best for my family and I want to win." His family has reportedly said they love it in Detroit. And your best shot to win is in Detroit.... But I can't imagine Detroit is too happy with how public this has all become....
Right now Babcock is pushing it right to the edge...it's high noon
