The Toronto Maple Leafs completed their six-day Development Camp with a Blue and White scrimmage at the Mastercard Center in Etobicoke, ON. Team Blue once again dominated, as 2015 first rounder Mitch Marner scored twice in a 5-2 victory over Auston Matthews and Team White on Saturday.
The stars of the day were a pair of free agent invitees who are looking to earn invites to the club’s rookie tournament in September. University of Denver junior forward Trevor Moore scored once and assisted on both Marner goals.

Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Tyler Wong, a junior teammate of Leafs 2015 third rounder Andrew Nielsen also scored twice. The 5’9…, 171 lb native of Cochrane, AB scored 43 goals and 46 assists in his fifth WHL season with the Hurricanes and played three games with the AHL Toronto Marlies at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old forward is hoping that a good impression at this week’s camp will earn him a pro contract.

Jeremy Bracco provided Team White with their only offense, scoring on a penalty shot early in the third and snapping a shot on the short side past Bowling Green U. goalie Christopher Nell.

Mike Babcock took in the rookie scrimmage in Toronto on Saturday, which will likely be the only time the Leafs head coach will see the youngsters until late in training camp, as he will be occupied with Team Canada and the World Cup in mid-September when Toronto opens training camp.

Leafs assistant coach Andrew Brewer will be with Team Canada and Babcock during the World Cup, which means that training camp will be run by assistants Jim Hiller and DJ Smith and Marlies coach Sheldon Keefe
