In trying to prepare for this one, the only question I really asked myself was, “is anything going to be different than Ottawa and the Isles?… With just around 24 hours to get right back on the ice, is there a sit down with the players who want to go out and prove something? Yes, getting younger and some of the players in the system look to show some promise, but there’s still about a month of hockey left for this iteration. How did they fare against Philly?

Game Summary:

When you’re playing a team whose coach sends an apology/please be patient note to fans you hope the night will be better than the past 5 duds. Yzerman did a semi-apologetic interview between periods. It’s a rebuild, absolutely. But the soul has been sucked out of this team.

I don’t know if it’s the personnel that headed out. Perron lost his close friend and neighbor, Dylan lost his bromance. But, this is sports. At some point you need to show up and show some resilience. Anything. This team just can’t get anything going.

There’s really not much else to say. You gave up a short handed goal and an empty net. Flex your stick before the puck drops. It was all over Mo’s face. He was angry and felt the blow more than anyone else. Just awful to watch.

Unless there’s a call up, this is the team for the rest of the season. It’s a shame because there were good glimpses. This group just looks beaten down and broken. Lalonde clearly can’t get the room to pull it together, and Yzerman is making more appearances than normal. They all see it happening, and it’s not good right now.

Third Period Detroit goals:

With about 2 minutes left Wings get an o zone faceoff with an empty net. Seider’s stick breaks and sets up for an empty net for philly. 3-1 philly

Shots: 37-25 PHI Score: 3-1 DET
