Game Summary:
Seattle, who not long ago was a bottom dweller, beat Detroit again. This time in OT, so the Wings got a consolation point. Regardless, the moves in the past couple days and the team play have made it clear. The season seems to have been mailed in.
There are players still playing hard, but attention to detail is gone. At least twice Seattle had tap in goals because of zero coverage on one side of the net. Missed assignment, bad passes and an overall return to the past few years of garbage.
The good news is, there’s not that much left. If you are anything like me, you plan to cancel Bally’s or ESPN+ the second the season is over. Money back in your pocket and 2.5 hrs back on game days. If I wasn’t blogging this garbage right now, I’d have already cancelled.
It takes a lot for me to step back and say that what I’m seeing is irredeemably awful. But, since the TB game, the efforts and assignments have gone out the window. No one seems to know where they’re supposed to be, and 5 trips to the penalty box is a farce.
I’d said at the beginning of the year, this is not a playoff team. Not yet. For about a week I wondered if I was wrong. I’m much less concerned about that at this point. The defense looked awful at times. Mo stood out as the best (and youngest) of the core. Lindstrom just makes me cringe each time he’s on the ice. We’re right near the point where it’d be nice to see some Griffins get a season debut.
If you thought the game was much better than what I feel like I saw, feel free to chime in. Otherwise, this Detroit auto is on 4 spares and one of them needs a patch.

At 14:48 Jake Walman intercepted a clearing nance, faked a shot from the blue line, skated around 2 diving defenders, and scored. Excellent skating for the newly extended defenseman. Unassisted. 4-4
