Wings Development Camp July 1-5 at LCA (Red Wings)

you can still read my day 2 Draft info as well as the acquisition of Kostin and Yamamoto for futures as the word “tepid… seems to be the high point of enthusiasm (all the way down to ice cold) for fans this go round.

Day One is starting to get some warm blooded response, but I don’t think I remember seeing such an overall negative feeling from the comments. The comment section is where ideas are debated and put forth and I like seeing people get their voice out there (as long as we can respect each other).

Detroit’s Development Camp starts Saturday July 1 and runs through the 5th. Each day will end with 3 on 3 style play so that should be a fun watch. There will be 3 teams (Howe, Lidstrom and Lindsay) and if you go to the page you’ll see more about the schedule.

The attendees will be from the past several drafts as well as free agents and undrafted invitees. These camps usually address specific weight training goals, classes on nutrition, and possibly even a closed door class on social media. (A clear necessity as in the past content has been scrutinized and nothing ever goes away. Ever).

Overall (in terms of the team) I feel like there were steps taken in the right direction last season. I don’t know if or how much this past draft is going to move the needle. I honestly just do not know. Building a team with the right balance of very high end offense/defense and sufficient goal tending is increasingly difficult. Rumors out of Toronto are saying Matthews wants a 3 to 5 year deal. He may be the most business savvy player of his generation. But, something has to give somewhere to get the defense bolstered a bit. Detroit is a long way from having the kind of talent we see up front in Toronto.

If I can get any access at all, you know I’ll do my best for you. If not, thank you for stopping by. I realize I forget how much of a blessing being able to do this is, and how much you all mean to me. Whether we see eye to eye or miles apart, you have taken the time to stop by. Time is precious and I’m grateful for that investment.
