OK, now the Wild have droppd three in a row and six of the last eight! Combine that with the fact that the two wins in that stretch were an OT win over the Flyers and a shootout victory over Buffalo, both at home.
This Wild team has been down and up and down again this season, with a lot of that being predictable given some of the circumstances.
It is well documented the cap situation and the dual buyouts, but quite honestly if those two players were still on the Wild roster this team quite honestly would most likely be in a worse postion than they are in currently.
There is also the removal of Kevin Fiala from the Wild lineup along with his 85 points and game changing ability. Yes, Bill Guerin, says that they have moved on, but that does not replace the player on the roster or the production. You can say all that you want about others getting an opportunity to shine but none of them has stepped up in any significant way to this point.
Next and possibly the most obvious, is the fact that the Wild had nearly all of their top point producers last season, experience "career" seasons. That is a formula for regression all day long.
It is not a total shock to see the team having the season that they are having to this point. They are what they are for right now, and that is a competitive team that is a fringe playoff qualifier.
They have a deep prospect pool and they also have a couple of tradeable pieces. That begs the question should Bill Guerin make moves to improve the team for this year as "buyer" or should he focus on adding to the already deep cupboard of future Wild talent?
