Wild Again Adding Draft Capital Acting As Trade Broker (Wild)

Yesterday the Bruins acquired Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway from the Capitals for three draft picks. In order to make Orlov's salary work with the cap the Wild brokered the trade to retain 50% of Orlov's contract. The Wild also sent the signing rights to Andrei Svetlakov their 7th round draft pick in 2017, to Boston as part of the deal.

The draft capital is one thing, but probably the bigger factor for the Wild is that they prevented these impact players from being dealt to the Western Conference which is still wide open.

Last night the Wild took care of their own business and Marc-Andre Fleury pitched a shutout in Columbus. With the victory the Wild moved three points ahead of Calgary in the wildcard race and actually moved into third in the Central ahead of the idle Colorado Avalanche.

It is a frantic race to the finish for everyone in the West and what takes place between now and next Friday could swing the pendulum one way or the other.

Lots to watch and wait for coming up this next week.
