Todd Cordell
Mark Stone.
I think he is the best defensive winger in hockey. He is always in the right position and his defensive stick skills are unmatched. So often you’ll see him pickpocket an opposing player, or knock a pass attempt out of the air, and turn it into offense the other way.
He does a great job of limiting shots, chances, goals, and the like to begin with. Considering he will now play a *TON* of games against anemic offenses like Anaheim, Los Angeles, Arizona, and San Jose, I’m not sure he’ll be on for a goal against all season.
That might be a slight exaggeration, of course, but I think his talent will be especially evident over so many games against bad teams.
Sean Maloughney Sean Couturier.
For a few years now Couturier has been one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL and last season finally received recognition with the award. He is one of the best faceoff men in the league, a strong EV producer and a positive influence whenever he is on the ice.
Overall I think the Flyers will be able to be one of the top teams in their division which should only improve Couturiers chances. I thought about picking Bergeron once more but the injuries to Marchand and Pastrnak makes me believe at least out of the gates that Boston will struggle.
