Which team would you like to see win the NHL draft lottery? (Avalanche)

In this edition of the hotstove, we share our thoughts on which team we hope to see win the draft lottery in April.

Todd Cordell

Be it via Ottawa, their own pick, or both(!), I'd love to see Colorado do well at the lottery. No, not so more fun can be poked at the Senators. They're having a tough enough time right now. I just really enjoy watching the Avalanche play, like how they're building the team, and think a top pick would be a nice reward to help them take the next step.

Though they take a lot of heat for a lack of talent beyond the marquee names up top, there is a lot coming in Martin Kaut, Cale Makar and, if healthy, Conor Timmins. Throw in a talent like Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kakko at/near the top of the draft and they'll be in great position to play competitive, exciting hockey for a long time.

Sean Maloughney Oh bring on another Edmonton lottery baby. If there is one thing that can bring together all the other fan-bases in the league, it is hating Edmonton for winning the Draft Lottery. As much as I would love for Oilers fans to get excited about something this off-season other than maybe saving 3 million dollars on Lucic's contract, a lottery selection likely buys some of the head honchos in Edmonton another year to keep their jobs.

Trevor Shackles Just...please not Colorado. You don't have to do this to me, I'm already numb to the pain. I'd like to see a team like Minnesota win it because they've been stuck in mediocrity for as long as I can remember, and getting Jack Hughes would completely change everything for that franchise. There are plenty of teams who I really would not want to see win such as the Oilers, Blackhawks, or Kings, but not too many who I would be happy for besides the Wild.
