Which team is most in need of a rebuild? (Red Wings)

Todd Cordell

The Detroit Red Wings.

Only the Toronto Maple Leafs are spending more money on players and the Red Wings average age is 30, according to hockey-reference.com.

You can live with that if the team is a true contender, but the Red Wings are anything but. They sit 26th in the standings and only three teams – Ottawa, Buffalo, and Arizona – have fewer wins.

Just two of Detroit's top-8 scorers are younger than 27 and their five leaders in ice time on the back end are 32, 34, 33, 27, and 37.

This team is old, slow, expensive and are struggling to stay afloat in the worst division in the NHL.

They desperately need to tear things down.

Peter Tessier If it's not the Sabres who else is it?

There are so many problems with the much-maligned franchise from Buffalo that it's hard to know where to start but one thing is certain despite good draft picks, efforts to acquire talent, develop talent the Sabres have made a colossal mess.

New GM and coach need a fresh start with personnel and that should happen ASAP, even though it happened before in the previous regime right?

There's too much talent to not be better but talent evaluation and development have been a sore point within that organization for years. Shuffling the deck chairs of GM and coach is not enough anymore and thus the Sabres need to build a foundational mantra that they, as an entire organization, adhere to the hope to get out of the spin cycle at the bottom of the standings year after year.
