Which team has been the biggest disappointment? (Stars)

Todd Cordell

The Dallas Stars.

They already had a strong core in place featuring elite talents like Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and John Klingberg.

Then they went out and added the likes of Alex Radulov, Ben Bishop, Martin Hanzal, Marc Methot, and Ken Hitchcock with the intention of turning the team into contenders sooner than later.

I didn't buy into the off-season hype as much as some – I had them finishing 4th in the Central – but I certainly thought they had enough talent to make the playoffs.

Fast forward and their chances of making it sit at 3.2% with seven games remaining. There's no reason a team like Colorado, for example, should be able to get in over them.

It's Calgary for me and not even close. While my long standing despise of the Flames has been bred into me since Otto kicked that puck into the net in OT in 1989, it has not clouded my view of the team.

The Flames puzzle me as they should be much better. Gadreau, Bennet, Monohan, Giordano, Brodie, Hamilton, Hamonic, Smith, Frolik, and more. What is making them play with such apparent disaster? The Flames are easily the most disappointing team in the west because they should be so much better. Given the cost to get Hamonic and how it has affected their draft prospects it will be interesting to see what the organization does this off season to address the problems.
