The Anaheim Ducks’ schedule for the 2020-21 season was released this week and the team also re-signed a veteran player. On top of that, six Ducks prospects are currently competing at the World Juniors. Here are the updates for the week:
DUCKS’ 2020-21 SCHEDULE RELEASED
Anaheim’s 56-game schedule for the upcoming season was released this week. The Ducks will open the season on January 14 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
DUCKS RE-SIGN MILLER
The Ducks re-signed veteran goaltender Ryan Miller to a one-year deal this week, worth $1 million. Miller played in 23 games last season, registering a .907 save percentage
WORLD JUNIORS UPDATE
The Ducks have six players competing in the World Juniors this year. Here are the stats for each player, before Canada’s game on Sunday:
Trevor Zegras (USA): 3G, 2A (2GP) Albin Sundsvik (SWE): 1G, 0A (1GP) Jamie Drysdale (CAN): 0G, 1A (1 GP) Sam Colangelo (USA): 1G, 0A (2GP) Henry Thrun (USA): 0G, 0A (2GP) Jackson LaCombe (USA): 0G, 0A (1GP)
Zegras has been a standout so far and has arguably been USA’s top player. On another note, LaCombe played in USA’s first game, however, he was a scratch in the team’s second game against Austria.
As for our poll questions, there was only one question since the last recap, so here are the results for it, along with my thoughts.
QUESTION: Are you surprised to see Ryan Miller returning for another NHL season?
(Votes: 100)
No: 60% Yes: 40%
It’s not overly surprising to see Miller re-signing with the Ducks, however, his return was far from a guarantee. He’ll provide the Ducks with depth in goal, as he attempts to continue climbing the NHL’s all-time wins list.
