The Washington Capitals are on the verge of winning the Stanley Cup.
Tonight, in the 106th game of the year, and 24th of the playoffs , the Capitals will look to win the first Stanley Cup in team history.
According to wikipedia, the Capitals are in their 43rd season as a franchise, and have made the Playoffs 28 times.
The only other time they made the Stanley Cup Finals was in 1998 when they were swept by Detroit.
John Carlson needs one point to become the Capitals all-time points leader for a defenseman.
Alex Ovechkin could become the first Russian Captain in NHL history to win the Cup.
If the Capitals don't win tonight, there isn't another game until Sunday. Then, if Vegas wins that, the NHL will take six weeks off and play game seven in August.
It's actually next Wednesday, so incredibly, this could go on for another week.
There was some interesting news I can't talk about but which yeah no kidding.
What else?
I still think Barrie Trotz looks like the bad guy from Sonic the Hedgehog.
Ovechkin still needs one goal to overtake Mark Schiefele for first place. They are currently tied with 14 each.
Kuznetsov has a commanding lead on the scoring race, he has 31 in 23 games. Ovechkin is second, with 26 points in 23 games. And quietly, still averaging over a point per game, everyone's favorite under appreciated Swede, Nick Backstrom has 22 points in 19 games and no one ever talks about him.
Go Caps.
