Very Brad behavior (Penguins)

First, I want to talk about the game itself because the Penguins did a great job finding a way to get two points on the road. After the first period I thought we were closer to seeing a Bruins blowout win instead of a Penguins come from behind victory. All in all the Penguins were outshot 45-25 in the game.

With Evgeni Malkin out with COVID the team needed their depth players to step up and Danton Heinen did so in a big way. He scored two goals with the Penguins in a 0-2 hole to tie the game. He had previously gone scoreless in ten games. In fact, he didn’t score in the month of January at all. He scored in his last game in December and his first game back in February. His first goal looked like a guy who should never go a month without scoring

His second goal was a wide angle shot where you just never know what might go in on a given night.

And frustrated is the right word to use because Jarry broke Brad Marchand’s brain, although I don’t know how you break something that is already broken. Marchand, who is one of the best players at his position, is also one of the most immature and less stable in the league. He has very poor impulse control and does a lot of very dumb things. Last night he had a hat trick in douchebaggery.

First, he prevented Tristan Jarry from giving a puck to a fan which, if this were the only thing he did, would have been a huge eye roll and that’s probably it.

But that wasn’t it. He later delievers a cheapshot punch to Jarry in the head. And if that wasn’t enough he closed with slashing Jarry in the face when he was skating by. Marchand earned a match penalty which is an automatic review from the league.

Actions like this are lowly even for the low. He’s a loser. He’s also the same exact person/player he’s been his entire career. He’s never been given a reason to change. The league enables players like him and Tom Wilson. They don’t care. Until they do care we will continue to see repeated behaviors by repeat characters. The only way you will deter behavior is to take their money. The only way to legitimately take a chunk of money from players is to have them suspended. The fine system is a joke. When they get long term suspensions they will stop. That’s the beginning and end of it.

Jarry seems to be OK. His biggest crime was stopping 43 out of 45 shots while upsetting one of the sports biggest babies.

Pittsburgh plays Ottawa next. The next Bruins game should be without Brad Marchand and it should be the case for a long time, but won’t.
