Semyon Varlamov, who needs one win for 200 in his NHL career, will start Wednesday when the Avalanche play Los Angeles in the second game of their three-game road trip.

Varlamov would become the fifth Russian goalie to win 200 games in the NHL. He trails Evgeni Nabokov (353), Nikolai Khabibulin (333), Sergei Bobrovsky (225) and Ilya Bryzgalov (221).
Forwards Matt Nieto and Colin Wilson will return to the lineup. Nieto missed two games with a lower-body injury, Wilson one game with a lower-body injury.
Forwards Gabriel Bourque and Marko Dano will be healthy scratches, along with defenseman Mark Barberio.
Center J.T. Compher has joined the team, but he isn’t quite ready to play. He hasn’t played since sustaining a head injury Oct. 13 against Calgary.
Right wing Mikko Rantanen has been fined $2,000 by the NHL for embellishment when he was hooked by Boston’s Patrice Bergeron in the second period Nov. 14 at the Pepsi Center. Bergeron was assessed a hooking penalty on the play.
Rantanen received a warning for embellishment in the Avalanche’s game against the New York Rangers on Oct. 16. The second citation triggers the fine. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
