We had a perfect night on a small card, quite happy with that! But just when I thought scoring was down, we get a few more overs. Tonight gives us an 8 game card, I like a few games and I will be back later in the day with updates on my plays. Analysis below.
TB/BUFF - The Sabres have only played 4 games since the break, losing all of them! TB has played 7 and last game out it showed when they played Boston. TB -250 isn't worth the price, better games on the board, pass for me.
VAN/FL - The Panthers have won 5 of 6 games since the break and scored a huge road win at Carolina on the weekend. Florida is a machine at home as they are best home team in the league but at -223, that price is steep. The Canucks haven't played since Jan. 1st! It will be interesting to see how the 10 day break affects them. I would maybe play the 1st period over and Florida as I could see Vancouver out of the gate slow.
CAR/PHI - The Flyers are still without 11 players and have lost 5 in a row! Carolina has won 3 of 4 since the break and thumped the Flyers last time in Philly 6-3. I don't see anything changing but -202 is steep, maybe take a look at the PL.
CHI/CLB - The Hawks have won 8 of their last 10 against CLB. But the Jackets are very good at home this year, while Chicago struggles on the road! Hawks 4th game in 6 nights on the road, lean to CLB -109.
COL/NASH - The Avs have won 4 in a row since the break and are now without their captain in the covid protocol. The Preds are red hot again having won 4 in a row too and are a very solid team at home. Nashville sat rested while COL played at home last night but they started the back up goalie. Lean to the Preds here +130 at home.
TOR/VEG - Huge lean to Vegas here as it's their only game ths week! They don't play again until next Monday at home to Pitt. The Leafs have only played 3 games since the break and are without Marner too. They blew a huge lead in Colorado on Saturday night. Vegas -110!!
PITT/ANA - Both teams are missing players, but no Gibson in goal hurts the Ducks. Anaheim has been very inconsistent since the break while the Pens had their 9 game win streak snapped in Dallas on Saturday afternoon. Line seems rather low, Pitt -143, Ducks +119. Seems too good to be true that Pitt line. Back with a play later on it as Malkin might be playing his first game of the season!
DET/SJ - The Sharks are off a 4 game roadie on the east coast while the Wings are playing their 3rd in 4 nights on the road. Pass for me.

Our Survivor Hockey pool is all based on the weekend (Sat-Sun) schedule, so you could potentially pick a team against different opponents if they play both days.
How to Play
Entrants pick two teams each weekend of the NHL regular season with the intention of the selection winning. A shootout or OT win, count as your team winning.
If the team's selected wins, the entry survives to the following week.
If one of the teams selected loses, the entry is eliminated from the pool. If you fail to post your picks before the weekly deadline, your team is eliminated.
If all remaining teams lose during a week, they all move on to the next week. The final surviving entry is the winner unless there are multiple teams alive after the final week of the season.
Teams may only be selected one time for the duration of the pool. You can't pick a team a second time after you have used that desired team's selection once. If you pick a team in which the game is postponed due to covid, the selection will be canceled, you won't be graded a win or a loss and you will have to pick an additional play the following weekend.
We will post a new blog every Friday in which you will post your 2 weekly picks. The picks can't be edited as the system shuts them down and we will take pics of each weekly entry so nobody is trying to cheat. This way everyone can see your picks each week. The deadline for your weekly entry will be at Noon EST every Saturday. The first week's deadline is Saturday, Jan. 15th at Noon EST.
Cost - $100 per entry is payable by Paypal or if you live in Canada, E-transfer is accepted, which is also the quickest way to gain entry. If you choose Paypal allow a few days for the payment to go through so please keep this in mind when registering that we need to receive it before the deadline for week 1 picks need to be posted. The maximum number of entries by any e-mail address or user at hockeybuzz is 3! Once we have your money you will be notified and activated into the contest. Please IM here at hockeybuzz and I will give you the email address for Paypal or the E-transfer. We will release how many entries we have after the deadline so each entrant is aware of the payout at the end of the contest.
