We split last night on our picks, but looking back, I'm going to fade Vancouver until they get a win/get healthy and start playing better structured hockey after watching the Canucks last night. On top of another loss, they were outshot 39-16 and are trending the wrong way. Again, I'll keep saying it for the next few weeks, tread lightly until things settle down with teams that started out hot or cold. Early in the season, much like the NBA, teams can get wins by just outworking their opponents until teams get their systems in place.
We have a 10-game card tonight, let's see if we make it a profitable night. There are a couple of dogs to look tonight in BUF/CHI/AZ/MTL/LA.
AZ/CLB - The Yotes have been off since Saturday afternoon and are finally ending their 6 game road trip. CLB are playing 3 in 4 nights are off a huge emotional win over NYR, tread lightly on this one.
DAL/BOS - The Stars rested Oettinger last night in Ottawa, so he'll get the start in goal against BOS. This will be the Stars 4th in 6 nights on the road, tough spot for them. The Bruins are rested, 5-1 overall and 5-1 over the total this season.(Oettinger/Ullmark confirmed goalies)
MIN/MTL - The Wild have gone over the total in all 5 of their games and their only win was over the winless Canucks. MTL has played well at home going 3-1 so far.(Fleury confirmed goalie)
NJ/DET - The Devils looked awful last night and the Wings are sitting rested in DET and are the only team left in the NHL not to lose in regulation!
COL/NYR - Avs captain Landeskog is out for 12 weeks after surgery and are off a big win in Vegas. NYR are off back to back home losses to SJ and CLB after starting 3-1.
FL/CHI - The Hawks have started off better than most under new HC Richardson. The Panthers blueline is depleted with Ekblad out til mid November.(Stalock confirmed goalie)
PIT/CGY - The Pens blew a 3-1 lead last night in EDM and now are playing a rested Flames team, they're 3-1 at home, tough spot for Pittsburgh tonight.
BUF/SEA - Buffalo is by far and away the most surprising team to start the NHL season and have just swept their Western Canada road swing. But this will be the Sabres 5th game in 8 nights on the road. SEA has knocked off LA and COL while losing a couple of close games.
TB/LA - The Kings have gone over the total in 6 of their 7 games and are off 4 game Eastern roadie in which they went 2-2. TB has only beaten FL/CLB/NYI, while losing to PHI/PIT/NYR.
VGK/SJ - The Sharks are off a 4 game Eastern roadie with wins over PHI & NYR, while 6 of their 8 games have gone over the total this season. VGK is off a big win over TOR and a loss at home to COL. This could be a letdown spot for the Knights. (Jones confirmed goalie)
