Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba has been suspended two games for an illegal check to the head of Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone.
Stone has a history of concussions in his hockey playing career.
Stone has been a driver on Guy Boucher's top line for most of this season. You can argue that Stone is his team's MVP and best player with 22 goals and 25 assists for 47 points in 56 games this season.
Trouba will now miss Tuesday night's game in Toronto and the February 28 game Minnesota, after Winnipeg's bye week. Trouba is eligible to return on March 3, when the Jets host the Blues. Can a suspended player be traded at the March 1 NHL trade deadline?
Trouba will fork over $33,333.34 in 2016-17 salary to the NHL Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Stone wasn't the only Senators forward injured in Sunday. Mike Hoffman suffered a lower body injury as well and was forced to leave the game. Hoffman has 19 goals and 20 assists this season.
Tommy Wingels was also injured against the Jets and is being evaluated. In Saturday night against Toronto in Hockey Night In Canada, veteran forward Bobby Ryan (12 goals and 12 assists) injured his hand when he was hit by a puck. It is believed that Ryan has a broken hand which will keep him out of the sens lineup indefinitely.
