The days are numbered now as the Wild will soon have a state of the art practice facility to call their own. The opening has been pushed back until December from the anticipated November original date, due to some unforseen construction issues.
Either way it is a tremendous step forward for the team and the organization as a whole. Previously the Wild would have to find other practice ice when the Xcel was unavailable, which in today's world of professional sports is far from the most ideal of circumstances.
The rink will be the crown jewel of the new Treasure Island Center. The rink will be located on roof of the 6th story building. The Wild will also occupy the basement of the building where they will have underground parking, offices, locker room, and state of the art training facilities. The players will have access to a high speed freight elevator to take them from the basement to the rink.
Treasure Island Center, located at Cedar and Wabasha Streets in St. Paul gives the Wild their first permanent home away from the Xcel Energy Center, but close enough in proximity being just 4 blocks from their home ice.
The Wild are a true contender on the ice, now they will have a facility of their very own that should help to give them the necessary amenities all in one place. That consistency can only help both with scheduling as well as continuity, not to mention building team unity as well.
A note to all Wild fans Minnesota Wild Jersey Launch is coming up on Friday September 15th from 11AM to 5PM at the State of Hockey Store in the Xcel Energy Center.
