A huge 14 game card tonight! Ten of which are rematches from Tuesday night.
Three new angles that I have been tracking that might be something to look at both short and long term are as follows.
Scenario #1 – Teams that are playing each other in back to back games, in which the home team loses the first game, the record of the home team in the second game is 12-4! NJ, CLB, Minnesota, Arizona and Vegas fit the system tonight.
Scenario #2 – Teams playing back to back road games on consecutive nights tend to go under the total in the 2nd game. So far that trend is 4-3 when teams play on the road back to back nights. Ottawa fits the system tonight.
Scenario #3 - One last angle I am tracking that is slightly profitable and similar to Scenario #1, is when any team loses the first game of a back to back against the same team, regardless if it’s on the road or at home, those teams are 17-12 in that situation. Ottawa fits the system tonight(only team playing back to back nights) to go with Pitt, NYR, NYI, Detroit.
Quick stat updates - First period totals going over were 1-1 last night and are 41-59 on the season. Road teams were 0-2 and are 40-60 on the season. Home side the way to go even with the higher juice on the ML! Game totals going over the total were 0-2 last night and are 56-42-2 on the season, which is still a very profitable angle.
Gamenotes for tonight –
TB/Carolina – First game in 10 days for the Canes. If anything, TB first period ML and the over would be strong bets. Taking the game total over 6, it originally opened at 5.5 and has already been bet up.
Calgary/MTL – Habs are playing their home opener tonight and Flames 2nd game on the road for this young season.
Pitt/Boston – Bruins put their undefeated home record on the line against a depleted Pens blueline that just signed Yannick Weber to get some help on the back end.
NYI/Washington – Barry Trotz was furious after the game on Tuesday night, something you don’t see out of him often, look for a huge effort by NYI tonight.
SJ/Colorado – SJ plays their 8th straight road game, look for the Sharks to fade later in the game, like they did on Tuesday night as their legs just aren’t there playing such an insane start to the season.
STL/Vegas – Look for the Knights to rebound tonight as they had a new coaching staff on Tuesday night due to covid and it showed with two penalties of too many men on the ice. It took the staff time to get their bearings with line combinations as it did with the players.
Ottawa/Vancouver – 3rd in 4 nights for these against each other. I really see a much tighter defensive game as these two teams know each others deficiencies having seen so much of each other recently.
