With rosters depleted by injuries and covid cases, playing under the total might be the way to go as coaches are going to play it very defensive-minded. Teams re-starting play after 2 weeks or more, but with no pre-season hockey.....lots of turnovers, mistakes, not much defensive structure. Last night the Blues couldn't score an empty netter in 3 minutes for us! Sorry for the short blog, very busy these days. Back tomorrow with systems updated and more. Keep on eye on 1st period totals going over the 1.5 of 2 that is posted as it was 4-2 last night.
TB/FL - Panthers played last night while TB rested up after being MTL in OT one night ago. The Lightning are on their 3rd goalie so once again, love the total over in this spot with Florida a strong home who fill the net. I would expect Spencer Knight in goal for FL.
MTL/CAR - Habs played in TB the other night and take a look at the players out for MTL, it's insane! No Price/Allen/Primeau for MTL in goal, the Canes should fill the net with some rested legs too! Once again, love the over 5.5.
NASH/CLB - The Preds are playing back to back nights on the road against a rested CLB team playing their first game after the break. Over 5.5, strong lean!
BUFF/NYI - The Sabres played at home last night and now travel to play the Isles who sat rested last night. Another great spot for the over 5.5 here, strong lean!
CAL/SEA - The Kraken are playing back to back home games on consecutive nights while the Flames are finally healthy and rested having not played last night. Calgary hasn't played a game since Dec. 11th, so watch for some sloppy play and plenty of goals! Strong lean to the over 5.5!
VAN/LA - The Kings already have a game under their belts and the Canucks have 9 in covid protocol plus 5 injuries......many of these guys playing tonight have yet to play a game together. Vancouver is playing back to back nights on the road too, tired legs fresh out of protocol too. Strong lean to the over here at 5.5 Quick was pulled last game against Vegas 2 nights ago. Canucks 7 wins in a row under Boudreau now!
PHI/SJ - The Sharks played a crazy game 2 nights ago, winning 8-7 in a shootout over AZ. The Flyers are playing to back to back nights on the road. Lean to the over at 6 and to SJ on the ML as they have a very active defense to like to push the play offensively!
Playing tonight all for 2 Units each - Might play the SJ over later tonight!
TB/FL o6
MTL/CAR o5.5
NASH/CL o5.5
BUFF/NYI o5.5
CAL/SEA o5.5
VAN/LA o5.5
Added - PHI/SJ o6(2 Units) game doesn't start until 1030pm, added it at 945pm.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Survivor Hockey Pool is basically the same idea as Survivor Football pools, except picking consistent winners in hockey is a little tougher than it is in football. Our Survivor Hockey pool is all based on the weekend (Sat-Sun) schedule, so you could potentially pick a team against different opponents if they play both days.
How to Play
Entrants pick two teams each weekend of the NHL regular season with the intention of the selection winning. A shootout or OT win, count as your team winning. If the team's selected wins, the entry survives to the following week. If one of the teams selected loses, the entry is eliminated from the pool. If you fail to post your picks before the weekly deadline, your team is eliminated. If all remaining teams lose during a week, they all move on to the next week. The final surviving entry is the winner unless there are multiple teams alive after the final week of the season. Teams may only be selected one time for the duration of the pool. You can't pick a team a second time after you have used that desired team's selection once. If you pick a team in which the game is postponed due to covid, the selection will be canceled, you won't be graded a win or a loss and you will have to pick an additional play the following weekend. We will post a new blog every Friday in which you will post your 2 weekly picks. The picks can't be edited as the system shuts them down and we will take pics of each weekly entry so nobody is trying to cheat. This way everyone can see your picks each week. The deadline for your weekly entry will be at Noon EST every Saturday. The first week's deadline is Saturday, Jan. 1st at Noon EST.
Cost - $100 per entry is payable by Paypal or if you live in Canada, E-transfer is accepted, which is also the quickest way to gain entry. If you choose Paypal allow a few days for the payment to go through so please keep this in mind when registering that we need to receive it before the deadline for week 1 picks need to be posted. The maximum number of entries by any e-mail address or user at hockeybuzz is 3! Once we have your money you will be notified and activated into the contest. Please IM here at hockeybuzz and I will give you the email address for Paypal or the E-transfer. We will release how many entries we have after the deadline so each entrant is aware of the payout at the end of the contest.
If you have any questions, please IM here at hockeybuzz or post them in the comment section. Thank you.
