We still gained a nice profit last night with the Pens come from behind win over the Blues, but the Oilers/Leafs game gave us a push on the total after being tied at 2 after the first period so that was frustrating. We have 11 games tonight, I love this card tonight, some great spots to win some big dollars. Analysis below.
MIN/BOS - The Wild have lost 5 in a row after an 8 game win streak back in December. Minny has only played once since the break and that was the Winter Classic, plus they are without 2 of their key defensemen due to injury. The Bruins are finally healthy and have won 3 in a row since the break, but tonight is their 4th in 6 nights, but I still lean huge to Boston -169. Two teams going in different directions.
SJ/BUFF - Both teams are hit by injuries and covid protocol, this game is a pass for me. This will be the Sabres only game between Jan. 1st and the 11th, so you would think they will sink all they have into this game. This will be the Sharks 5th game since the break, but they've lost the last 2 on the road in horrible fashion!
CAL/TB - The Flames are playing their 4th straight game on the road and are in Carolina tomorrow night. TB is playing their 6th game in 9 nights since the break and has had a horrible travel schedule to go with it H/R/H/R/R is now back at home. Small lean to the Flames +120 to rebound from their poor outing in Florida two nights ago, plus the over 6!
CLB/NJ - Both teams are over machines this season with 41 out of 63 games combined going over the total this year! Both teams have gone over the total in 8 of their last 10 games. NJ has been playing much better hockey since the break going 3-1 and this is the first of a home and home with these two teams. Lean to the over 6.
PITT/PHI - Pitt has won 9 in a row while the Flyers have lost 3 in a row and have 11 players out with injury or covid protocol. Philly has so thin down the middle, take a look at the players out on the injury report at the center ice position. Flyers are off a 4 game west coast roadie and only had one day off since returning. The Pens are starting a 6 game roadie and played last night while Philly was recovering. Huge lean to the Pens -178 and the over 6.
FL/DAL - The Stars haven't played since Dec. 20th and this will be their first game since the break while Florida has won their 4 games since the break. HUGE lean to the over 6 in this spot as the Panthers have won those 4 games, 4-3/9-3/5-2/6-2 but they were all at home and now hit the road. Small lean to Floriay -131.
WIN/COL - Both teams have won their 2 games since the break and with the altitude, I see another high scoring in Denver. Lean to the over 6 here.
CHI/AZ - Hawks have lost all 3 games since the break and this will be their 4th in 6 nights. Yotes only 2 games since the break and are only a small dog at home +139. The line seems weird to me, passing on this game with way better games on the card.
NYR/VEG - The Rangers have won 3 in a row with wins over the Oilers and 2 over TB. NYR starts a 5 game roadie in Vegas tonight but the Knights are missing key players in Stone/Patches and Lehner. They have lost the last 2 games to the Jets and Preds. Vegas is on a 7 game homestand but is going to struggle to score with the players they are missing. I can't believe the Rangers are +140! Huge lean to the Rangers here as they will be up for this game and expect a lot of Rangers fans in Vegas I'm told.
DET/ANA - Great home vs. a horrible road team. Huge lean to the Ducks -145 in this spot!
NASH/LA - The Kings haven't played since Jan. 1st and are a rested bunch while the Preds are off a big win at Vegas. Plus the Preds played 2 road games, came home of one game then back to the road. Tough spot for the Preds here, strong lean to LA +115 at home. Small lean to the over 5.5.

The Survivor Hockey Pool is basically the same idea as Survivor Football pools, except picking consistent winners in hockey is a little tougher than it is in football. Our Survivor Hockey pool is all based on the weekend (Sat-Sun) schedule, so you could potentially pick a team against different opponents if they play both days.
How to Play
Entrants pick two teams each weekend of the NHL regular season with the intention of the selection winning. A shootout or OT win, count as your team winning. If the team's selected wins, the entry survives to the following week. If one of the teams selected loses, the entry is eliminated from the pool. If you fail to post your picks before the weekly deadline, your team is eliminated. If all remaining teams lose during a week, they all move on to the next week. The final surviving entry is the winner unless there are multiple teams alive after the final week of the season. Teams may only be selected one time for the duration of the pool. You can't pick a team a second time after you have used that desired team's selection once. If you pick a team in which the game is postponed due to covid, the selection will be canceled, you won't be graded a win or a loss and you will have to pick an additional play the following weekend. We will post a new blog every Friday in which you will post your 2 weekly picks. The picks can't be edited as the system shuts them down and we will take pics of each weekly entry so nobody is trying to cheat. This way everyone can see your picks each week. The deadline for your weekly entry will be at Noon EST every Saturday. The first week's deadline is Saturday, Jan. 1st at Noon EST.
Cost - $100 per entry is payable by Paypal or if you live in Canada, E-transfer is accepted, which is also the quickest way to gain entry. If you choose Paypal allow a few days for the payment to go through so please keep this in mind when registering that we need to receive it before the deadline for week 1 picks need to be posted. The maximum number of entries by any e-mail address or user at hockeybuzz is 3! Once we have your money you will be notified and activated into the contest. Please IM here at hockeybuzz and I will give you the email address for Paypal or the E-transfer. We will release how many entries we have after the deadline so each entrant is aware of the payout at the end of the contest.
