With credibility firmly established, let me tell you this: The Oilers need to fire Peter Chiarelli. They cannot fire Todd McLellan and allow Chiarelli to hire a new coach. They need to fire them both at once.
There is no excuse for a team to be this bad after having four #1 overall picks, two top-five drafted wingers and a top ten defenseman.
After two straight 5-0 losses, if the team doesn't fire him, they don't deserve to win. It's bad enough that McDavid was one lottery number away from playing for his favorite team (obviously the Maple Leafs) in his hometown, but it's just completely sick the way this management group is wasting their good fortune.
The Edmonton Oilers are bad on a level that is almost unheard of. It's actually hard to believe how bad. I - a fat slob who works in my underwear and lives in my mom's basement - was able to predict (using nothing more than my brain and some advanced stats websites) that trading Taylor Hall would be a colossal disaster.
How a guy earning more money than I'll ever see, with an entire team of people at his disposal, was not able to make the same determination is beyond me.

I realize I probably don't have the chops to make random decisions based on feelings, but I swear to God I could try.
Anyways, to sum up: The Oilers are terrible, it was easy to predict how terrible they would be based on how obviously bad their decision making is, and allowing Peter Chiarelli to continue in his role as General Manager is an affront to the intelligence of every single paying customer the Oilers had or (incredibly) still have.
