There are reports that Tortorella has been offered the job and that the two sides are meeting tomorrow to go through the contract…which is an odd way for the Flyers to do this…We rarely get a situation where a leak like this gets out BEFORE its finalized. Really puts Tortorella in the drivers seat. If these reports are accurate…. I don’t think its quite so simple…
In Boston..
The Bruins are very much in on Barry Trotz and ironically may get him BECAUSE Cassidy got hired in Vegas. The Knights were the favorite for Barry Trotz prior to Cassidy entering the marketplace. There are people who still believe Boston stays in house or goes with a player-friendly coach. It is possible that Trotz gets spooked by the way the Cassidy situation played out. Peter Deboer is also possible..
In Winnipeg…
If no Trotz in Boston, it is entirely possible the Jets end up with the guy they really want. Barry is from Manitoba, and of course, they love their local boys up there. Trotz could also take some time off. I wouldn’t expect him to just jump into a situation unless he absolutely loves the team. Deboer would make a lot of sense in Winnipeg and may even be a better fit..
