Yet another contest between former and current Blackhawks goaltenders, this game is one where, on paper at least, the Blackhawks should be able to break out of their scoring doldrums. Or at least, further light will be shed on how big and systemic the problem is for Chicago. Dallas struggles mightily to keep pucks out of their net. An issue that poses a serious threat to once lofty projections for this club.
Both teams are without key players. Patrick Sharp, Johnny Oduya and Ales Hemsky are out for Dallas. Jonathan Toews is out for Chicago—although Brent Seabrook is day-to-day and though he will not play tonight, could be back soon.
Finally, our sympathies to the family of Hawk assistant Kevin Dineen on the passing of his father, Bill.
