Looking to win back-to-back games for just the second time this season, Lindy Ruff's Dallas Stars (13-14-6) host Ken Hitchcock's St. Louis Blues (17-11-5) on Tuesday in the fourth game of Dallas' five game homestand. Game time is 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the third meeting of the season between the teams. The Stars have gained three of four possible points (1-0-1) thus far in games against the Blues.
The Stars are 2-1-0 on the homestand thus far. Dallas is coming off a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. Adam Cracknell's third-period go-ahead goal in the third period broke a 1-1 deadlock after a Radek Faksa rebound goal in the second period knotted the score. A Jason Spezza fight with Flyers defenseman Brandon Manning helped a seemingly tight Dallas team to loosen up. Antti Niemi earned the win with 31 saves on 32 shots, and is the more likely starter for this game.
Johnny Oduya, who left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury, is doubtful for this game. Mattias Janmark (preseason knee surgery) and Ales Hemsky (hip) remain on injured reserve. Cody Eakin will serve the second game of his four-game NHL suspension for elbowing New York Rangers' goaltender Henrik Lundqvist in a behind-the-net collision.
The Blues, who will be in action for the fourth time in six nights, suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to Edmonton on home ice on Monday. St. Louis is 2-4-over its past seven games.
