Source: Canadiens Will Make a Pitch for Hughes Son Late First. Should They? (NHL Montreal)

The Combines are history and Jack Hughes, the other Jack Hughes, son of Canadiens GM Kent Hughes made quite a splash, ranking near the top of every physical and mental test given. Jack has had some fun with the Habs, noting that not taking him with the first overall pick in the draft would be a huge mistake….

He also had an awkward interview with Montreal at the combine. When the Habs asked Jack if he would prefer to have his father as not a part of the interview he said yes…and yet his father did appear in the interview..which he should have for sure…the awkward part of it all was that they gave Jack the option.

Meanwhile, his killing it at the combine has made it easier for dad to pick his son in the draft with one of Montreal’s later first round picks…. And per a source, the Habs VERY much would like to do just that.

The source went on to add, “The GMs don’t like to undercut one another, so you can be sure that if someone takes Jack before Montreal can, that GM will be talking to Kent about it. Just the right thing to do……

What say you? Should Kent draft his son Jack?
