Still working on my non winners...it takes some time to really see how these teams respond...
But here are a few trades that almost happened:
Bobrovsky to Carolina
The Canes were willing to take Bob as a rental, which shows that despite the solid play from their goalies they were looking at the playoffs and thinking Bob could help...The Jackets grabbed Kinkaid and its my belief they did this in case the Bob to Carolina deal happened...That part is just a theory...Kinkaid also helps if Bob has issues in the playoffs or as a possibility when Bob leaves next year..
Eric Staal could have been dealt
Yes, it is true that he didn't want to go to Boston, but I was told that didn't mean he wouldn't go anywhere...Carolina never made a play, but Calgary and Chicago may have I am told.
Brian Elliott to Calgary
Brian Elliott wasn't supposed to be still in Philly, but its a credit to his play that he is. The Flyers went out and made a move for Talbot, but while they waited for Cam's visa issues hit Carter Hart got run from two games early and Elliott played way better under crazy circumstances...Then Elliott won the outdoor game and last night turned away over 30 Sabres shots...I was told however that the Flyers and Calgary were prepared to make a deal right up until Carter Hart's injury hit the day before the deadline.
The Wild almost moved Zucker
to Calgary until it fell through, and then they tried again at the deadline to Pittsburgh but ran out of time because his cap hit would have meant Kessel was moved...hard to do..but they tried.
The Flyers valued Raffl
Teams called about Rafll, but the return was around a 5th round pick and the Flyers know what Raffl is worth. He is extremely underrated and can play up and down the lineup...
The Habs and Mark Stone
Ottawa was asking more of Boston and Montreal than they got from Vegas and Boston said no way early on....but Montreal almost came up with the price...
Flyers waited out to get Fabbro from Nashville
Hartman turned out to be a great fit, Fabbro was the Flyers main target and I hear was possibly included in the pitch for Stone that Nashville was holding out there...
Leafs and Canes
I am told they went back and forth and back again...on Ferland and even Ferland and Hamilton...the Canes wanted Kapanen...NOT Nylander...
Panthers were in on Stone and Panarin
Florida was looking for a player they could really sell to the fan base...
More of these added as I hear them.
Would you have made any of these deals?
