Sick Of Losing And Excuses, Changes Need To Happen (Devils)

It happened again. You shouldn’t be surprised. New Jersey Devils were beaten badly by the Philadelphia Flyers last night by the score of 6-1. Devils showed their vulnerabilities as they gave up a hat trick to Cam Atkinson and another short handed goal.

Devils fans are sick of losing. So should the entire Devils organization especially the ownership group, who have promised a rosy picture of the future, but have no track record of winning, except for one season which turned out to be fool’s gold. Changes need to happen now.

If not and tomorrow brings the same personnel and status quo against the Vegas Golden Knights, expect another lopsided loss in front of the home crowd at the Prudential Center.

Three straight losses in regulation is unacceptable. The excuses are getting lame. Yes, it is admirable that Mackenzie Blackwood took one for the team while being under the weather. But the same things are happening to Akira Schmid during the third period and last game against the Islanders. Undisciplined plays and the defense looks like they have too many holes with opposing players wide open which is was reminiscent of last year’s team. Spare us the “depleted lineup… excuses because the fans are no longer sympathetic and have lost their patience.

Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald should be already ready to make changes before Thursday’s game against the Golden Knights. After all, this is his team and Devils fans will make their opinions loud and clear if they perform the same way they did last night.
